TRAI Gears Up to Evaluate Mobile Network Quality in Udupi District

In a bid to enhance digital connectivity, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has unveiled a large-scale assessment of mobile network quality across Udupi District. The regulatory body plans to conduct signal strength tests, speed trials, and coverage surveys in both urban and rural areas, with particular focus on underserved villages.
Udupi, known for its fishing communities and educational institutions, has seen a rapid rise in smartphone usage, especially among students and small businesses. TRAI’s initiative comes amid growing complaints about inconsistent call quality, data throttling, and dropped connections reported by consumers and local entrepreneurs.
The assessment is expected to provide actionable insights that could prompt telecom operators to upgrade towers, expand fibre backhaul, and improve service plans.
