U.P. Student’s Suicide at Manipal Academy Sparks FIR Over Harassment Claims

In Udupi district, a tragic incident unfolded when a student from Uttar Pradesh committed suicide at Manipal Academy of Higher Education after reportedly facing harassment and humiliation by staff.

The family alleges that the student was subjected to verbal abuse, exclusion from academic activities, and constant scrutiny by a biology lecturer. Over several months, the student’s emotional distress allegedly culminated in an overdose on campus.

Following the incident, local police filed a First Information Report against the lecturer and two administrative officials. The case has sparked calls for a thorough investigation and heightened scrutiny of student welfare policies at the institution.
