Udupi: 146 Villages at Risk of Drinking Water Shortage

According to a recent report released by the Udupi district administration, 146 villages are being identified as vulnerable to drinking water shortages in the coming months.

The assessment cites dwindling groundwater levels, inadequate new pipeline development, and an overreliance on rainwater harvesting, which has proven insufficient during prolonged dry spells.

The shortage could disrupt daily life, compel families to travel long distances for potable water, and pose health risks, especially for children and the elderly.
