Udupi, Karnataka, reports a marked improvement in its Air Quality Index (AQI), with latest readings indicating a decline in particulate matter and nitrogen dioxide levels.
According to data compiled by IQAir, the town’s AQI has slipped into the moderate range, a welcome change against the backdrop of rising national pollution levels in both urban and rural centres. The dip is attributed to a combination of reduced vehicular traffic during the recent public holiday and increased solar activity that helps disperse pollutants.
While the improvement is encouraging, health officials caution that occasional spikes from seasonal dust storms and industrial emissions still threaten residents, especially the elderly and those with respiratory conditions. Continued monitoring and stricter emission controls are essential to sustain cleaner air and protect public health. Source: Google News – Udupi.
