Udupi Air Quality Improves, AQI Drops to Record Low

Udupi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) fell to 56 on the latest measurement day, registering one of the lowest values observed in the district over the past year. The figure placed the region in the ‘Good’ category, as defined by the World Health Organization’s air quality framework.

IQAir’s data shows that fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and nitrogen dioxide levels have declined by 21% and 15% respectively compared with the same period last year. The improvement coincides with stricter enforcement of the Udupi Pollution Control Board’s guidelines and a significant reduction in vehicular traffic during the recent holiday season.
