Udupi Air Quality Index Drops Amid Improved National Air Pollution Levels

IQAir reports that Udupi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) registered a value of 42 on Tuesday, placing the city in the ‘Good’ category and indicating significantly cleaner air than the average of 121 recorded a week earlier.
Nationally, the average Indian AQI has also shown a downward trend, averaging around 70, a marked improvement over the winter period when smog often pushes readings above 150. The decline is attributed to a combination of favourable meteorological conditions and reduced vehicular and industrial activity during the recent lockdown easing.
Lower AQI levels are expected to reduce respiratory and cardiovascular health risks for the city’s residents. Local health authorities are monitoring air quality closely and encouraging the use of masks and staying indoors during peak pollution hours. Source: Google News – Udupi.
