Udupi Air Quality Index Rises Amid Nationwide Pollution Surge

Udupi's latest air quality readings show a significant rise in the Air Quality Index (AQI), placing the coastal town in the unhealthy category for the second consecutive week.

According to IQAir, the increase is driven by a combination of coal‑based power plant emissions, unregulated vehicular traffic, and the decimating crop burning in nearby districts. The AQI value hit 175 today, exceeding the WHO safety limit of 100.
