Udupi Air Quality Reaches Unacceptable Levels Amid Rising National Pollution

Udupi city in Karnataka has seen its Air Quality Index (AQI) surge to hazardous levels this week, according to data from IQAir. The sudden rise is part of a broader trend of worsening air pollution across India.

IQAir’s real‑time monitoring shows particulate matter (PM2.5) exceeding 200 µg/m³ in several neighbourhoods, far above the safe threshold of 35 µg/m³. Contributing factors include increased vehicular traffic, industrial emissions, and seasonal agricultural burning.
