Udupi Air Quality Remains Good as National Pollution Levels Rise

According to a recent report by IQAir, the air quality index (AQI) in Udupi city today was measured at 42, falling within the ‘Good’ category. The reading, based on fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) levels, suggests that residents can breathe comfortably without protective masks.
While Udupi enjoys relatively clean air, India's overall pollution levels have climbed in recent months. Major cities such as Delhi and Hyderabad have recorded AQI values exceeding 200, placing them in the hazardous range, a trend that has alarmed health officials across the country.
Health experts warn that sustained exposure to high levels of particulate matter can worsen respiratory and cardiovascular conditions, particularly among children, the elderly, and those with pre‑existing ailments.
