Udupi and Mangalore Blackout: No Power on July 21

On the evening of July 21, residents of Udupi district and nearby Mangalore were plunged into darkness when power supply halted across the entire region.

The blackout followed a series of transformer faults on feeder lines connected to the Andhra Pradesh transmission network, with grid operators citing a fault at the Peringalli substation and an overload at Khadka.

More than 560,000 customers were affected, forcing hospitals, schools and businesses to rely on emergency generators. Local authorities urged residents to conserve batteries and keep lights off. The cause is under investigation. Source: Google News – Udupi.
