Udupi Bus Conductor Arrested for Filing False Complaint in Crash Probe

Police in Udupi arrested a school bus conductor, Veerendra Kumar, on Monday after investigators discovered that his complaint regarding a bus collision on the NH 66 near Kumta was fabricated.
The collision, which occurred on June 10, claimed the life of one passenger and injured several others. Transport officials had initially blamed the driver for negligence, but a subsequent probe revealed no fault on the driver’s part. The conductor’s false allegation was made in an attempt to claim compensation and was exposed during the investigation.
