In a recent decision, a Udupi consumer court has directed a leading scooter retailer to refund the full amount paid by a customer who never received the purchased scooter. The case stemmed from a complaint lodged by the buyer, who alleged that the company breached the sale agreement by not delivering the vehicle within the promised time frame.
The consumer court examined evidence from both parties, including purchase receipts, delivery tracking and the seller’s correspondence. The judge found that the retailer had repeatedly failed to comply with the delivery schedule and had not provided any valid justification for the delay. In line with provisions of the Consumer Protection Act, the court deemed the non‑delivery a breach of contract and mandated a full refund, along with applicable interest, to the aggrieved buyer.
This ruling underscores the importance of timely delivery and accountability for automotive retailers in Karnataka. Customers are encouraged to monitor their orders closely and seek legal recourse promptly if sellers default on their obligations. Source: Google News – Udupi.
