The Udupi consumer court granted a refund to a local resident after a scooter dealer failed to deliver the purchased bike despite receiving full payment.
The case involved a customer who purchased a scooter on 10 March 2024 and paid the full amount of ₹75,000. Despite repeated follow‑ups and written complaints, the dealer has not provided any evidence of shipment or delivery, prompting the consumer to file a complaint. The court examined the transaction records and the absence of a delivery receipt before ruling that the company was liable to refund the amount.
With the court’s decision, the owner of the scooter has been required to reimburse the full payment within 14 days. The ruling is a reminder for local businesses to honour delivery commitments and for consumers to keep all purchase documents. Source: Google News – Udupi.
