On Thursday, police in Udupi detained a couple on charges of defrauding individuals of a total of Rs 23 lakh, allegedly by offering high‑return investment schemes that never materialised.
Victims, who had invested through the pair’s purported financial advisors, reported that the couple had promised substantial profits within a short period, leading many to surrender significant sums. The police recovered no substantial assets yet have launched investigations into the couple’s business operations and network of associates.
