Police in Udupi detained a married couple earlier this week following allegations that they defrauded investors of ₹23 lakh through a fraudulent investment scheme.
According to a complaint lodged by the victims, the couple allegedly solicited money by presenting forged documents and promising high returns on an investment that never materialised. Police recovered a portion of the funds, but a significant amount remains unaccounted for, prompting a thorough investigation by the district crime branch.
The arrest underscores the seriousness with which Udupi law‑enforcement is treating financial scams, and serves as a warning to the local community to verify all investment offers before committing any money. Source: Google News – Udupi.
