Udupi Court Receives Fourth Hoax Bomb Threat, Police Investigate

Police in Udupi district confirmed that the harassment received by the district court, which has now been repeated four times, came via a phone call with no credible basis. The caller threatened to detonate a bomb at the courthouse at a pre‑determined time, according to the police report.

This fourth incident marks a disturbing pattern following earlier calls in January and March, which also led to a temporary suspension of proceedings in the court. Following each alert, the local police dispatched a task force for forensic analysis, and court officials placed additional security personnel and barriers at the entrance.

The repeated threats have temporarily halted some legal proceedings, causing a backlog of cases and a loss of public confidence.
