Udupi Court Receives Second Hoax Bomb Threat in a Week

On 5 July 2026, the Udupi district court received a bomb threat via a phone call that proved to be a hoax, making this the second false alarm in the region within a fortnight.

Earlier, a similar threat was called in on 28 June, leading to an intensive police operation and the temporary closure of the court premises. In both incidents, local law‑enforcement officers conducted a swift verification and directed the caller to an undisclosed safe drop location, where authorities collected the false device and confirmed it contained harmless materials.
