Udupi DC Calls for Enhanced Tourist Safety Measures

Udupi District Collector Shantanu Arle has called for immediate steps to prioritise the safety of tourists visiting the coastal district. In a statement dated 28 June 2024, he urged local authorities to invest in robust security measures and visitor awareness programmes.

The coastal town has seen a surge in tourist arrivals in recent years, especially during the summer months. While the rise in footfall has boosted the local economy, it has also brought challenges such as overcrowding at popular beaches and increased risk of crime. Last year, several incidents involving petty theft and abandoned luggage were recorded.

By tightening security protocols, increasing patrols and launching educational campaigns, the district aims to protect both visitors and residents alike. “Our goal is to ensure that Udupi remains a safe, welcoming destination for all,” Arle said.
