Udupi DC orders officials to prepare for paddy procurement at MSP

The Deputy Commissioner of Udupi district ordered officials to prepare for the procurement of paddy from farmers under the government’s Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme, as announced in a directive issued on Tuesday.
In India, MSP provides a safety net for farmers by setting a guaranteed price for crops. In Karnataka, the MSP for paddy is ₹8,400 per quintal, and the state has been actively purchasing rice during the monsoon season to maintain market stability and ensure farmers receive timely payments.
The directive means the district procurement agency will mobilise warehouses, plan logistics and coordinate with farmers to secure the required volumes.
