Udupi District Digitises 6,000+ Manuscripts Under Gyan Bharatam Mission

In a landmark achievement for the region, the District Collector of Udupi announced that more than 6,000 manuscripts, encompassing a wide array of ancient texts in Sanskrit, Kannada, and other regional languages, have been digitised with high‑resolution scanning under the Gyan Bharatam Mission.

Launched by the Ministry of Culture, Gyan Bharatam seeks to preserve India’s literary heritage by creating an accessible digital archive. The Udupi batch, involving state‑of‑the‑art imaging technology and cloud storage, exemplifies the mission’s goal of safeguarding cultural artifacts from deterioration while making them available to academics, students, and the general public worldwide.
