UDUPI District Director Calls for Enhanced Tourist Safety Measures

The District Commissioner of Udupi, Hari Verma, addressed the council on Monday, urging that tourist safety become a top priority as the area attracts millions of visitors to its beaches and temples each year.

In recent weeks local police have recorded an uptick in petty thefts, vandalism and road accidents involving tourists, prompting the department to seek tighter security measures and better communication with lodging and transport operators.
