Udupi district enjoys abundant rains, Dakshina Kannada sees moderate showers

On June 27, 2026, Udupi district recorded a high volume of rainfall, whereas the neighboring Dakshina Kannada division reported moderate precipitation, according to the Tirunelveli Meteorological Office.
Rainfall gauges across Udupi tallied between 60–80 mm during the 24‑hour window, replenishing irrigation reservoirs and boosting paddy fields, while Dakshina Kannada saw only 20–30 mm, insufficient for the later stages of the crop cycle. The disparity is attributed to the shifting monsoon trough, which lingered over Udupi but stalled earlier in Dakshina Kannada.
