Udupi district enjoys generous rainfall as Dakshina Kannada receives moderate showers

Yesterday’s rainfall was recorded across Udupi district, with most talukas receiving between 15 to 30 mm, according to data from the Rainfall Monitoring System of the Karnataka State Department of Water Resources.
Contrastingly, Dakshina Kannada experienced moderate showers, recording about 10-20 mm over its coastal and hilly areas. The weather conditions contributed to smoother river flows in the Satapadi and Kali rivers that help recharge groundwater for the surrounding communities.
The generous downpour is expected to support the local paddy and banana plantations, and to replenish the Kaveri and Sharavathi hydraulic reservoirs. Residents in Udupi city have noted a reduction in heat‑wave discomfort, while farmers anticipate lower irrigation costs. Source: Google News – Udupi.
