Udupi District Reports 904.70 km of Rural Roads Damaged by Monsoon Rain

In a statement released yesterday, the District Commissioner of Udupi confirmed that 904.70 kilometres of rural roads across the district sustained extensive damage from the monsoon rains that have battered the region. The figure highlights the magnitude of the infrastructure impact caused by the heavy rainfall.

Experts note that the heavy downpours, which intensified over the past week, have caused widespread erosion, waterlogging and surface cracks in rural pathways. The damage is widespread, affecting villages in the northern and central parts of the district where farming and trade routes are heavily reliant on these roads.

The damage has left many communities isolated, making it difficult for farmers to transport produce and for emergency services to reach remote areas.
