Udupi Excise Officials Warn Licenced Businesses of Fire Safety Violation Risks

Udupi's Excise Deputy Commissioner, Sh. Ramanathan, called out the state's excise licence holders on Thursday, warning that disregard of fire safety norms could lead to legal action and endanger public life.

The call comes amid rising concerns over safety violations at liquor stores, hotels and other licensed premises, which routinely store flammable liquids and powdered alcohol in unsecured areas. Fire safety protocols dictate proper storage, electrical inspections and emergency exits, all of which are now being factored into licensing renewal.
