Udupi district has been witnessing a series of frequent power cuts over the past few weeks, leaving households, schools and local businesses in darkness.

According to the state electricity board, an aging network of transformers coupled with high ambient temperatures has forced the distributor to shed load in intervals of 30 to 90 minutes, resulting in recurring outages that impact the daily rhythm of the region.
