Udupi Homestay Raided, Large Amount of Cannabis Seized by Police

A police raid on a homestay in Udupi district on Friday uncovered a large quantity of cannabis, police officials announced.
The 5‑room accommodation, situated near the town of Kundapura, was searched by officers from the Udupi Deputy Superintendent of Police after receiving anonymous tips about illicit cultivation. Officers seized an estimated 3.5 kilograms of dried marijuana and secured several hiding spots in the rooms.
The find highlights the ongoing crackdown on drug cultivation in the coastal district, with authorities warning that unauthorized homestays can be used as fronts for illegal activity. The seized drugs will be sent to a state drug laboratory for analysis, and the owners face possible prosecution under the Narcotics Control Act.
