Udupi Homestay Raided, Large Quantity of Cannabis Seized

Late last week, police officers from Udupi district carried out a raid on a homestay situated on the outskirts of the town, seizing a sizable stash of cannabis hidden in the premises.
The operation, which was carried out with a search warrant issued by the District Judicial Magistrate, uncovered approximately 500 grams of marijuana along with paraphernalia used for consumption. The homestay had reportedly been used as a transit point for drug traffickers, according to an internal investigation report presented to the Enforcement Directorate.
Authorities have announced that the seized drugs will be disposed of following state regulations, and the implicated owners are now under investigation. This raid comes amid a broader effort by Karnataka law‑enforcement agencies to clamp down on illicit drug trade in coastal districts.
