At around 9 a.m. on Sunday, a mentally distressed young woman in a crowded market area of Udupi brandished a knife and attempted to strike pedestrians, prompting a chaotic scene as bystanders fled and local police moved in.
According to a statement released by the Udupi City Police, the woman, who had no prior criminal record, was tackled and subdued before any serious injury occurred. Authorities arranged for her immediate transport to a nearby medical facility for psychological evaluation.
