Udupi Man Loses Rs 50 Lakh in Fake Stock Market Investment Scam

By ETF Desk

In the quiet town of Udupi, a local resident was deprived of more than ₹50 lakh after trusting a fraudulent stock market investment scheme that promised high returns within weeks.

The scheme, operated through a look‑alike brokerage website, lured the victim with fake earnings statements and a supposedly permanent “market‑insider” approval. Once the handover was made, the platform vanished, leaving the individual with a substantial financial loss and no trace of the promised investment.

Authorities have opened an investigation into the scam, and the case has raised alarms among Udupi’s business community about the increasing prevalence of online investment fraud. The victim’s ordeal has been shared widely on social media, prompting local banks to issue warnings about warranty‑free investment offers.
