During a meeting with City Municipal Corporation officials, the Udupi MLA stressed the need for immediate dredging of storm‑water drains and rivulets in the district. He highlighted how neglected waterways could lead to severe flooding during the upcoming monsoon season.

Udupi has grappled with recurrent water‑logging, especially in low‑lying areas where clogged drains exacerbate surface runoff. The MLA pointed to the 2021 rainfall event that caused extensive damage to roads and homes and underscored the lack of regular maintenance as a key factor.
