Udupi: NSUI District Vice President Attacked with Swords; Case Registered

In a violent incident that shocked local residents, the district vice‑president of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) in Udupi was attacked with swords during a public rally, sustaining serious injuries.
The assault took place at a gathering near the Udupi municipal office late on Thursday morning. Witnesses reported that armed assailants approached the NSUI leader from behind, brandishing long swords that cut the man's jacket and produced visible wounds on his arms and chest. No police escort was present at the time, raising questions about the organizers’ security arrangements.
Following the attack, the police registered a criminal case under sections related to assault and use of violent instruments. The victim is currently under medical care, and law enforcement has cordoned off the area while investigating the identities and motives of the attackers.
