Udupi Police Arrest 19-Year-Old in MDMA Distribution Probe

On April 12, 2024, Udupi Police arrested a 19‑year‑old male suspected of distributing MDMA in the town. The arrest followed a raid on a warehouse at Khadir Road, where investigators seized several packets of the drug.
MDMA, often referred to as ecstasy, has seen a surge in Karnataka, prompting law enforcement agencies to intensify surveillance and enforcement. The arrest was carried out by the Anti‑Narcotics Squad, which has been actively targeting synthetic drug rings in the region.
The detained individual faces charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and could be sentenced to up to three years of imprisonment upon conviction. Police officials have also seized the drugs, and the case will form part of a broader investigation into the supply chain of illegal stimulants in Udupi.
