Udupi police crack down on school transport, register 203 cases, impose Rs 71,000 fine

Police in Udupi district have taken a decisive step to curb illegal and unsafe use of school vehicles by registering 203 cases in a month‑long operation.

The crackdown was carried out after a series of complaints about poorly maintained school buses and drivers lacking proper licensing. Officers inspected about 150 vehicles, found violations ranging from non‑use of seat belts to overloading, and issued citations.
