Udupi Police Deploy Cameras to Automate Traffic Violation Bookings

Udupi police have rolled out a new system using high‑definition cameras to capture traffic violations and automatically issue bookings to offenders.

The cameras, installed at key junctions across the district, record infractions such as speeding, illegal turning and running red lights. When a violation is detected, the footage is cross‑checked with license plate data, and a ticket is generated and sent to the vehicle owner via SMS and email, eliminating the need for manual checks and paperwork.
