Udupi Police Search Court Complex After Receiving Bomb Threat Email

The police in Udupi launched a search of the Udupi District Court Complex after receiving an email threatening a bomb blast. Officers canvassed the courthouse, security gates and adjoining buildings as a precautionary measure.
The threat email, sent to the court’s official mailbox, contained an alleged plan to detonate a device within the court premises. The court administration notified the Karnataka Police Commissionerate, which in turn mobilised a team of officers and explosive detection dogs to carry out the inspection. Officials confirmed that no suspicious items were found, and the email was traced back to a spoofed address.
The incident led to a temporary suspension of court hearings scheduled for the next two days, while security bodies reviewed their protocols. Lawmakers in Karkala and Kundapura urged the state government to enhance surveillance at all judicial establishments.
