Udupi Roads Plagued by Huge Potholes, Raising Commuter Safety Concerns

Commuters traveling along the Udupi‑Karkala stretch were forced to pull over after striking a series of large potholes that appeared overnight. Police reports confirmed that the holes, which can be as deep as two metres and over three metres wide, have created unsafe driving conditions for vehicles of all sizes.

The Directorate of Roads & Transport in Karnataka has taken note of the issue, with district road officer Anil Kumar stating that a dedicated repair crew will be dispatched for patch‑up work. The potholes are believed to have formed due to a combination of heavy monsoon rain and poorly maintained road surface, according to an Engineering Department assessment conducted earlier this week.
