The Karnataka state government has imposed restrictions on road construction activities during heavy rains to reduce accidents and prevent damage to newly laid sub‑grades. Despite these regulations, the Udupi Municipal Council has defended the ongoing work as a necessary step to tighten structural integrity and enhance drainage of the congested corridor.
Residents have expressed concerns about the safety of workers and the impact on daily commutes, citing increased traffic snarls and the risk of accidental flooding. The municipal corporation has promised additional safety measures and coordinated with traffic police to manage disruptions.
