Udupi’s Air Quality Declines Amid Increasing National Pollution Levels

According to the latest data from IQAir, Udupi's Air Quality Index (AQI) has climbed to a moderate level of 115, indicating that fine particulate matter (PM2.5) currently exceeds recommended limits.
India has struggled with rising particulate pollution over the past decade, with several cities regularly recording unhealthy AQI values, driven by vehicular emissions, industrial activities and seasonal dust. Udupi, historically known for its coastal breezes, now faces higher concentrations of pollutants due to local agricultural burning and increased traffic.
