Udupi Sets Up Fines to Curb Dengue‑Breeding Sites

Udupi district officials announced that residents will be levied fines for not eliminating stagnant water habitats that breed mosquitoes, following a steep rise in dengue cases.

The policy will cover both private and public property owners, with penalties ranging from ₹5,000 for repeated violations. A recent investigation linked over 70% of local dengue cases to neglected irrigation pans, drains, and discarded containers.
