Udupi Shuts Down 130 Illegal Accommodation Units During Sewage Treatment Inspection

The Udupi district administration recently conducted a massive raid on illegal homestays and resorts in the region, resulting in the shutdown of 130 units for violating sewage treatment norms. The operation aimed to improve the environmental and health conditions in the area.
The inspection was carried out by the Udupi district administration in collaboration with the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) and the Udupi City Municipal Council (UCMC). The teams inspected over 150 properties, including homestays, resorts, and hotels, and found that 109 homestays and 21 resorts were operating without proper sewage treatment facilities.
The shutdown of these units is expected to improve the environmental and health conditions in the area. The Udupi district administration has issued notices to the owners of these units, directing them to set up proper sewage treatment facilities within a stipulated timeframe. Failure to comply will result in further action, including fines and even cancellation of licenses.
