Udupi SP: QR Code Scheme Generates 193 Drug‑Related Reports

Udupi district police has logged 193 drug‑related complaints through a new QR code reporting scheme, Police Station Director Hariram Shankar told reporters.

The scheme, launched last month, allows residents to scan a QR code at police kiosks and submit anonymous details of suspected drug cultivation or sales, hoping to fasten investigations and reduce corruption. Shankar said the initiative has opened a new channel for community policing amid rising drug misuse in the coastal district.

So far the reports have led to the seizure of 21 kilograms of drugs and the arrest of 15 suspects, the officer added. The police said the data also helped identify hotspots and streamline joint operations across jurisdictions. Source: Google News – Udupi.
