Udupi to Get 12 New Public Schools Under ADB-Funded Project

On Thursday, the Karnataka Ministry of Education announced the launch of twelve new public schools in the Udupi district, financed through a development partnership with the Asian Development Bank (ADB). These schools are set to begin construction next month, with a projected completion by 2027.
The ADB-backed initiative, part of the State’s Comprehensive Education Development Scheme, will allocate approximately ₹5 crore per institution for infrastructure, learning materials, and staffing. The move follows a district-wide assessment that identified gaps in school capacity and quality across coastal and rural areas.
With the addition of 12 schools, the district’s educational coverage will increase by 15%, enhancing access for over 30,000 students.
