Woman Arrested in Udupi Over Blackmail Allegations

A woman was taken into custody by local police in Udupi on Thursday after a complaint was lodged alleging she was blackmailing a prominent businessman in the district.

The police said the woman, whose identity has not yet been released, allegedly threatened to disclose allegedly sensitive information about the businessman’s business dealings unless a specific sum of money was paid. The complaint cites sections of the Indian Penal Code related to extortion and blackmail, and the case is currently under investigation.
