Woman assaulted and robbed in rented accommodation in Manipal

A woman was assaulted and robbed while staying at a rented house in the Manipal area yesterday evening, according to local authorities. The incident reportedly occurred around 9:30 PM when the victim was alone in the apartment and was attacked by an unknown assailant who took her mobile phone and wallet.

Officials say the property is located in a mixed residential zone of Manipal, a suburb of Udupi District that has recently experienced a rise in petty crimes. The victim, who has asked to remain anonymous, is said to have sustained no serious injuries and was able to call for help immediately after the assault.
