Udupi Smart City Project Gets ₹120 Crore Boost

The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has approved a fresh tranche of ₹120 crore for Udupi Smart City Mission. The funds will be used to accelerate road widening on the Udupi–Manipal corridor, install smart traffic signals at 12 key junctions, and expand the city-wide free Wi-Fi network.

District Collector Vidya Kumari confirmed that work on the Ajjarkad underpass will resume by August 2026 after a brief monsoon halt. The project is expected to ease the chronic congestion near the KSRTC bus stand.
